If you didn’t already know November is Lung Cancer Awareness Month, you aren’t alone. Although lung cancer kills more people than any other type of the disease, it generally fails to attract the attention given to breast cancer or prostate cancer.
That’s why events like last week’s international Shine A Light On Lung Cancer vigil are so critically important. They raise awareness and spread knowledge about the disease, while offering support to survivors who are too often overlooked.
Last Tuesday, St.Vincent Cancer Care hosted its own Shine A Light On Lung Cancer vigil. The first ever held in central Indiana, it drew lung cancer survivors, their family members, and their health care providers, all of whom paid tribute to those affected by the disease while vowing to help in the fight against it.
