April: Join Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Team In Training®and make a difference in the fight against blood cancers. TNT is the world’s first and largest charity sports training program and provides training to run or walk marathons and half marathons, or participate in triathlons or century (100-mile) bike rides. Summer 2012 events include the OneAmerica 500 Festival Mini-Marathon, Indianapolis, May 5.
April 28: Coaches vs. Cancer Coaches Huddle Basketball Tournament, Hinkle Fieldhouse, Butler University, The American Cancer Society and Butler University Men’s Basketball Coach Brad Stevens will team up for the annual Coaches’ Huddle Basketball Tournament. The tournament features a field of teams consisting of 10 players vying for the championship while supporting the American Cancer Society. A Family Fun Zone offers contests, food and drink, inflatables, and a silent auction. Learn more information at http://www.indycvc.org.
May 31: American Lung Association’s Healthy Lung Expo. Patient Program: 9:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m.; Professional Program: 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Indianapolis Marriott North, 3645 River Crossing Parkway. For patients and health care providers to learn more about the latest trends, resources and research surrounding COPD, asthma and lung cancer. Speakers from a variety of fields will present current medical based research on topics that have the most impact on those whose lives are touched by these conditions. Attendees will be treated to a relaxing day full of inspirational messages, education, exhibits, luncheon and door prizes. June 2-3: American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life, Carmel, 9:00 a.m., Carmel High School Football Stadium.
July 14: Little Red Door’s Big Red Bash, 10 a.m.-2 p.m., Military Park, downtown Indianapolis. Big Red Bash is a community-centered festival that creates an engaging venue to learn about the ways cancer can be prevented through an active and healthy lifestyle. Participate in health screenings, food demos and help break the World Record for the largest Zumba class. Play in our family fitness and fun zone.
