Support Group Calendar

 

April 3, 10, 17, 24 at 6 pm and April 5, 12, 19, 26 at 10 a.m.: St.Vincent Cancer Support Group, held at the St.Vincent Breast Center, 8550 Naab Road, second floor conference room past boutique. For cancer patients in active treatment. Survivors can talk about living with cancer in a safe and comfortable setting with other survivors having similar experiences. People who attend support groups report feeling less isolation, a reduction in stress, greater sense of control, and interview before attending the first session. April 23: Man to Man prostate cancer program to help men cope with prostate cancer by offering community-based education and support for patients and their loved ones. Meets in Cooling Auditorium, St.Vincent Indianapolis Hospital, 2001 W. 86th St. every 4th Monday at 6:45 pm except May and December. To register, please call (800) 227-2345.

May 3-June 7: Cancer Transitions, a free six-week workshop to empower adult cancer survivors with the knowledge and support to become active and successful participants in their long-term survivorship. Six consecutive classes held at St.Vincent Cancer Care, 8301 Harcourt Rd., Indianapolis. Participants must register to attend. Sponsored by the American Cancer Society, this program gives female cancer patients a hands-on experience using makeup, turbans, scarves and wigs to enhance their personal appearance during and after treatment. To register, please call (800) 227-2345. There are programs each month throughout the Indianapolis area. Registration deadline June 11.
